Traveled to Fiji, not many people have been there for holidays and everyone has to know how beautiful it is. Labasa (pronounced [lamˈbasa]) is a town in Fiji with a population of 27,949 at the most recent census held in 2007. Labasa is located in Macuata Province, in the north-eastern part of the island of Vanua Levu, and is the largest town on the island Another set of Kokoda. They cook it different from our Kinilaw. They prepare the the fish meat of Walu. They prepare squeezed lemon juice in a bowl. They leave the fish soaked in it overnight. the next day, they add the coconut and all the other spices. It definitely is good. They do not add vinegar like we do back in the Phils, yet the taste is definitely exquisite!

I have allergies to crabs since I was a young girl. But I always have this thing about exposing myself to what I am allergic of! Haahahhhaah! To get me immune to it! I used to itch a lot, bloat, face all red and difficulties breathing. This was in the past, when I was younger. I had been having the same reaction all these years to eating crabs, prawn & crayfish. Yet what can I do? These are my favorites! Aha! That is why I made myself my own laboratory rat! I keep eating it until I could test my own tolerance. I used to eat little by little. Now, I can eat 1 without going all RED. Just itching a little bit. But not all red yet. In the long run, I will eat more and more until I defeat the allergy. So I would say, there is a cure to my own allergy, it is called mind programming & conditioning. Oh but then, disclaimer. What works for me do not work with everyone. So if you have allergies to it, I am not advising you to do what I do or test yourself. Do not quote me on this. Ingredients:
Mud crab 1 1/2 cup evaporated milk 1 stick butter 1 teaspoon sugar or to taste 1/2 teaspoon salt or to taste 3 tablespoons water (I use Sprite instead - Filipino way!) 1 teaspoon corn starch 2 stalks curry leaves (you can get the curry leaves at Indian grocery stores) I will make it as simplified as possible the way I cooked it. Heating up a large pan, then I added the Butter (one whole of it, the tastier!) Added the curry leaves, which make it smell too great! Then a bit of sugar. The salt is optional really depending on your taste. The butter will start making some bubbles so you can stir a bit to make it settle. Then add your Crabs. If the crabs are quite big, it will help if you cook one side until it goes very orangey, before you turn it to the other side. When your crabs are cooked, add the evaporated milk. Stir and get the flavor even and absorbed by the crabs. It is not in the ingredients, but I add Sprite instead of water for a unique taste. Let it simmer. Then lastly, you add a bit of corn starch to make the sauce creamy and thick. Serve hot and enjoy your meal! ♥ I served this dish last night and they all loved it till the last piece of crab to the very last drop of the sauce! Finger-licking good. Phnom Penh is the capital and largest city of Cambodia. Phnom Penh has been the national capital since the French colonized Cambodia, and has grown to become the nation's center of economic and industrial activities, as well as the center of security, politics, economics, cultural heritage, and diplomacy of Cambodia. Once known as the “Pearl of Asia”, it was considered one of the loveliest French-built cities in Indochina[2] in the 1920s. Cambodia one of things I enjoyed, was the food! They serve healthy food. During the whole stay, I felt healthier. Cause they always serve iced tea, bottomless, which made me quit on Soda! It was great as to their food, it gave me a different awareness of being healthy and choosing more healthy. After my Cambodia trip, I decided to gear towards being Vegetarian.
Being in Singapore, it is the best time to take advantage of trying all different types of food and to enjoy the really great ways they cook the food. We have always loved coming by Newton Circus, accessible thru Newton Mrt Station. You get off the MRT station and start walking towards the direction of the open food court. When you get there by few minutes walk, you will be greeted by hawker owners inviting you to eat or order at their stalls. Once at the food court area, you can always pick which area you would like to sit. There are covered ones that are nearer to the food stalls, there are also tables right by the middle with more spaces, more tables too. You can then walk around so you get a glimpse of the food you are order as there are a lot of options you can have. Here are examples of the food you will find at Newton Circus. Enjoy the photos! |
