GLITTER DUST OF MY MIND. SOLILOQUY.
As I stared at his face, I noticed wrinkles have started to form on his forehead. He shook his head and sighed deeply. I was working on his computer while he was standing, hands on his waste looking down at huge empty boxes. He is has moved from Paris to Singapore few months ago, and now he would have to move from Singapore to Korea. Him staring at the boxes prompted me to help him move it to the side, so I stood up and started helping him setting up one a box, but the he said,
"Oh dear, don't worry, it will be alright, I’ll deal with that later."He looked at me like and smiled in the most sincere way. He then sat on his big & comfy swivel chair. With big wide blue-green eyes, he looked at me and said, "Did you know that I already worked more than forty years? That my son & daughters are both forty plus now? They are even older than you!"I was amazed, I grinned and joked around to make him more relaxed and to avoid getting him more emotional; "Hmmm, so, that makes you... how old?"He cut me off and continued my statement, we both ended up laughing about it. "yeah, yeah! over 60years old! Don't make fun of that!"Truly, time has shown his graciousness. He had a few wrinkles, yet still is very good looking. To me, he never looked like he is 60 plus or probably because I do not try to guess people's ages. I guess because he smiles often, jokes a lot and feels young too. He stood up, went to the window to look outside. He told me he is planning to rest quite soon from work and said he would like to retire after this project. At that point, I never felt like I would need to encourage him to neither stay nor asked why, instead I encouraged him to retire happy and content. Then he asked me to stand up and take his big chair. “Here, take my seat. You sit here and pretend you are my boss while I talk to you about retirement.” "So, where would you want like to stay once you retire sir?" I asked him as we swapped seats; he was sitting on his guest chair while I sat on his office chair. I was done fixing his laptop. He gave out a big sigh, looked up, he placed both arms on top of his office table. He stared at me in the eye and then replied, “You know Emily, I will retire soon. I will either be staying in Paris, with my beautiful French wife or we could stay in my hometown in England. As long as she is with me, whatever makes my wife happy, that is what I would like do.”This is a man of self confidence in front of me, a man of great passion for success. He worked his life for passion, for dedication and for change. Someone who knows, his existence can make a difference to the industry he is working in. I salute him for the achievement he has at his sleeve, since if we do not have a whole lot of good examples of people who dedicate themselves to working as you give your best. He has established himself in the business. He had made a name for himself. But at all times, when I ask him about where he wants to be and why he wants to go to that place, his answer always starts with the line... "My wife would want to retire in Paris." or "My wife wants to work at any country I am assigned" or "My wife would not love that place, so I am not willing to go to a place she will not be happy at." I can imagine his wife; for him, his wife could be the most adorable woman & could be the most loving wife he has in his lifetime. He cared and thinks about her like his most precious gem in this world that he wants to make sure she gets all the best out of everything. He loved her so dearly that his life was all about his career & his wife. It made me smile deep inside. This man loves his wife very much. A successful man accomplishing his goals with the support of his wife. It is amazing what partnership can do. It is beautiful what support can do, it is wonderful what love can do. For as you retire in bed at night, success is definitely one of our best achievements, it is great to share it with the people dear to us. For as you sleep at night, aging graciously, even with wrinkles and lines, life will always be beautiful when your heart knows how to appreciate everything that LIFE has given you. For as we sleep at night & waking up in the morning, let us ask ourselves, why do we do what we do and who motivates us to be at our best at what we do. Like him, I would like to age gracefully even with Wrinkles & Lines. For as you retire in bed at night, success is definitely useless when you don't have someone to discuss nor to share it to. For as you grow old and weary, it will be lonely if your pillow is for one head and not for two. For as you sleep at night, even of wrinkles and lines, life will always be beautiful when you have love that is true. |
